Tortorella Pools - Spring 2014 Champions
Hampton FC Comes Out Strong
Well it was a beautiful day for the championship match with clear sky and temperature in the middle 70's with about 60+ spectators who lined the entire field. Tortorella and Hampton FC during the regular season tied both matches but the last time both teams met in the championship match, spring 2013, Hampton FC won by a score of 4-3 which included an own goal by Tortorella. Hampton FC came out fast and strong. They were attacking well with plenty of shots with some on goal, one hit the cross bar, with others going wide. It would look like Hampton FC would score soon. Tortorella on the other side of the field had poor passing with few offensive drives. During the half, few shots were even attempted by Tortorella. Overall, Hampton FC was player a better match but were unable to score. Tortorella Has Chances
During the second half, Hampton FC still was producing in front of the Tortorella Pools many shots but Tortorella keeper, Alejandro Bolanos, was able to save the day. Tortorella had a better attack with several fast breaks but some good shots on goal but Hampton FC keeper, Olger Araya was able to block them all. Tortorella could have taken the lead when defender, Cristian Munoz, was dribbling inside the Hampton FC goalie box with Tono Gonzalez taking down Munoz for a penalty kick for Tortorella. Rodolfo Marin would take the kick for Tortorella but blasted the ball wide of the goal post. In the end, no one was able to score. Overtime, Players Exhausted
During the over time period both sides were tied with everyone surprised that 30 minutes of overtime will be played. Back 20 years ago, we had a championship match that needed about two hours of sudden death to have a winner. Play was fast but no one could score with Cesar Correa of Hampton FC stopping the match due to cramps. Everyone looked tied. Tortorella Pools Wins Penalty Kick Round During the penalty kick round, Tortorella Pools had very little problem defeating Hampton FC by a score of 4-1. Stiven Orrego of Tortorella started the ball rolling with Cristian Munoz finishing it. David Rodriguez of Tortorella Pools when he took his kick, hit the goal post just like he did in the penalty kick round in the semi-final match against Maidstone Market.
