Play at Mid Field

For this game, two 30 minute halves would be played. Both teams were ready and during the half, most of the play was between the two goalie boxes. Few shots were directly fired at the goals. Most of the shots went wide. Hampton FC at the 19th minute mark missed a sure goal. Jose Almansa had the ball and was able to dribble it into the Maidstone goalie box. Almansa hit the ball to his left to Danny Salazar as Maidstone keeper, Alex Mesa, tried to block it. As the ball was about 6 feet from the near post, Salazar looking into an empty net hit the ball with his shin over the cross bar to miss a sure goal.

Play continued but at about the 24 minute, Maidstone was given a direct kick which Julian Barahona would take. Barahona fired the ball toward the near post left top corner. Hampton FC keeper, Duvan Castro, jumped up to punch the ball, but the ball deflected off his hand down and went just wide of the near post. A missed goal for Maidstone.

Maidstone Last Second Goal Sends the Game into Overtime

During the second half of play, is was looking as if the game would end up in a draw. Well things did not work out that way. At about the 47 minute of the match, Hampton FC was given a direct kick about 38 yards from the goal near the side line. Irineo Amador of Hampton FC would take the kick. Amador fired the ball high into the Maidstone goalie box. As the ball was flying near the penalty line, Mesa running to punch the ball out of danger jumps up to have the ball hit his finger tips and head toward the open net. All Mesa could do at the time was just watch the ball cross the goal line to give Hampton FC the lead.

It was looking bleak for Maidstone at this point with just about 13 minutes left in the game. Maidstone kept on attacking but they could not score the equalizer. Just as the final whistle was about to be blown, Barahona about 30 yards fired a head high ball into the Hampton FC goal. Castro jumped up to punch the ball out of danger but missed and watched the ball hit the back of the net with just 3 seconds left in the match.

No Scores During the Over Time Period

After a small break after a great shot by Barahona that tied up the match, two 15 minute halves would be played for the overtime period. During this time, both sides attacked but no one was able to score with lead to the penalty kick round.
