Action at both ends of the field

For this match, Maidstone was missing their top scorer, Luis Correa, due to the flu along with Andy Gonzalez. Action was seen at both ends of the field with both keepers having several great saves in front of the net. Hampton FC as play went on, was the stronger team. Hampton FC had a chance to score when the ball was passed to Jose Almansa who was about 9 yards from the goal. Almansa missed kicked the ball to have it go wide of the oncoming Maidstone keeper, Alex Mesa, a missed chance to score. The tackles were hard but the referee did not hand out the yellow card but gave a warming. No one was able to score during the first 30 minute half.

Almansa seven yard goal wins the match

The second half of play begun as it ended. both sides playing hard but about 5 minutes in, Almansa of Hampton FC scores the only goal of the match. Rafeal Godinho of Hampton gets the ball outside the Maidstone goalie box and is able to dribble past Mario Olaya of Maidstone to the top of the goalie box. There Godinho passed the ball to his right to Almansa who was standing about seven yards from the goal. Almansa takes control and fires a grounder into the far corner as Alex Mesa, Maidstone keeper, comes out to block the shot. As the shot heads toward the far side goal post, Godinho runs towards the ball, takes a swing but misses it to watch it enter the net. The ball hits the net, bounces out and for good measure, Godinho hits the ball back into the net.

Maidstone could have tied up the match when Michael Garcia has the ball and dribbles it to the Hampton FC goal line. Garcia fires the ball into the center where team mate. Mario Olaya is running to. As Olaya is approaching the ball to blast it into the net, Almansa is there to kick it out of danger.

In another play, Antonio Padilla taking a direct kick, kicks the ball to the far side goal post. Hampton keeper, Olger Araya goes for it along with Luis Barrera of Maidstone Market. Both collide in mid air with the ball bouncing to the ground along with Araya landing on his back, with Barrera falling to the ground. Words between the two were exchanged and as Barrera turns his back, Araya gives him the finger.

Later on, Gehider Garcia from about 5 yards does a bicycle kick but Mesa is in the right position to save it.

On one play, Mesa kicks the ball from his own goalie box high into the air to the Hampton FC goalie box. As the ball approaches the Hampton FC goalie box, Almansa jumps up to hit it but the ball hits his hand as he jumped from the goalie box line. A hand ball but the referee did not call it but Esteban Valverde of Maidstone complained that the referee did not call the hand ball and was given a yellow card.

Hampton FC could have scored again just minutes before the conclusion of the match. Gehider Garcia steals the ball at the half field line and heads toward the Maidstone goal. It was a one on one with Mesa but Garcia's team mate, Tono Gonzalez, runs with the play and is on the left side. Gehider passes the ball to Gonzalez who should have just shot the ball into the open net but wastes his time trying to control the ball which gives Mesa time to intercept Gonzalez and block his weak shot into the net. A great save for Mesa.

It was looking as if Maidstone would not score but a problem occurred when Valerde was given a red card, he already had a yellow card, for entering the field but not from the mid field line. One member of the Maidstone team stated that the referee waved Valverde into the field knowing that he was not at the mid field line but our rules state that substitutions can only occur from the mid field line and the referee can not change the rules. Now Valverde with a red card was out of the match with other members of the Maidstone yelling and using abusive language toward the referee. Valverde was heard calling the referee names and threaten him, Valverde will get a 4 game suspension. Maidstone manager, John Romero, was given a red card for his language. At this point, the referee called the match which made the Maidstone side very anger. Several spectators and team members were approaching the referee but there keeper, Alex Mesa was holding them off. After all this, everyone went home.
