Bateman Painting Takes Early Lead

The two teams met last fall also in the championship game with Maidstone Market in the end winning by a score of 2-0. Bateman Painitng was missing Rafael Santos due to a red card in the previous week game. Maidstone was ready to play with their entire team. About 45 spectators were at the game. Will Maidstone win this game again? Maidstone came out strong and would control the ball during the first half.

(14th Minute) With Maidstone attacking, it was Bateman Painting scoring first. Juan Zuluaga gets control of the ball at the 25 yard line mark. Zuluaga dribbles toward the Maidstone goal and he enters the goalie box, Alex Mesa, Maidstone goalie, comes out to block Zuluaga. Zuluaga from about 10 yards blasts the ball into the far corner past the hands of Mesa. Maidstone had shots but Bateman had a very good defense along with Cristian Rios, who had several great saves, prevent Maidstone from evening up the score.

Maidstone Market Pulls Out a Win

(50th Minute) It was looking as if Bateman would hold on and win but Maidstone was putting tremendous pressure on the Bateman defenders and were able to score. Jefferson Ramirez had the ball to the side of the goal and he fired it to the far side where John Romero was standing near the goal post. Romero headed the ball into the net to tie the game up.

(52th Minute) It did not take long for Maidstone to score again. This time Jefferson Ramirez from about 20 yards blasts a grounder into the far side net past the hands of Rios.

On one attack by Bateman, Jonathan Lizano is seen being pushed down while dribbling with the ball inside the Maidstone penalty box but the referee did not call anything. Bateman had several chances with only Mesa standing in the way. One shot by Randy Marin went into Mesa's hands and the other shot by Romulo Tubatan, was saved by Mesa's legs. Both opportunities should have ended with a goal. In the end, Bateman could not tie up the game which gave Maidstone Market the spring 2017 championship.
